At TEDMED 2016, our very own Co-Founder and Chief Health Officer Dr. Rajaie Batniji explored how we can empower our employers to create the healthcare experience we all deserve.

In his talk, “What if we could redesign the healthcare experience from scratch?”, Rajaie highlighted some of the biggest shortcomings of our current system:

How do we fix this? Where is our opportunity?

At Collective Health, we see employers as the opportunity. They are already spending $1 trillion on their people’s healthcare each year—in fact, 93% of Americans with private health insurance are covered through their employer. And 63% are on a self-insured plan, meaning that employers are literally paying for care as people access it, and the insurer is only acting in an administrative role.

Although employers are running their own mini-insurance companies, they don’t have the correct tools to be running it efficiently.

That’s where we step in.
