The Benefits Playbook is a podcast covering all things employee healthcare, brought to you by Collective Health. Each episode features an in-depth conversation between Sasha Yamaguchi, Commercial Leader at Collective Health, and an expert in the health benefits industry.

The Season 2 finale of The Benefits Playbook podcast features two particularly special guests: Ali Diab, CEO and co-founder of Collective Health, and Halle Tecco, investor, entrepreneur, and Collective Health’s newest board member.

Ali founded Collective Health over 10 years ago after a harrowing personal experience navigating the healthcare system moved him to try to change the industry. Prior to co-founding Collective Health, Ali was Vice President of Product Management and Business Operations at AdMob by Google and held executive and management positions at Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, and Yahoo!. Halle’s career has also been centered on fixing the U.S. healthcare system; she began working in healthcare over 13 years ago as an angel and limited partner (LP) investor and as the founder of Rock Health, the first venture fund dedicated to digital health. Since then, she has gone on to co-found companies such as Cofertility and Natalist, which had a successful exit in 2021.

In July 2024, Halle became the newest Collective Health board member to help advance the company’s mission of simplifying the healthcare experience for employers and their people. She is also a board member of RESOLVE and the International African American Museum and has been an Advisor to the Harvard Medical School Department of Biomedical Informatics since 2014.

Now, in conversation with host Sasha Yamaguchi, Ali and Halle come together to discuss the shift in consumer attitudes that could significantly shake up the healthcare industry in the coming years. They also explore the potential impact of AI on the member experience and care economy, plus the opportunity for public-private partnerships to help manage healthcare costs.

“I think that because [consumers] are the end payers through tax dollars, through lower wages, through direct payment, out-of-pocket spending, we deserve to have the players listen to our needs and our demands to lower the cost. But unfortunately, we have an industry that’s profiting quite nicely from us, so it’s going to take a lot of work, collective work.”

– Halle Tecco
