The Benefits Playbook is a podcast covering all things employee healthcare, brought to you by Collective Health. Each episode features an in-depth conversation between Sasha Yamaguchi, Commercial Leader at Collective Health, and an expert in the health benefits industry.

In this episode of The Benefits Playbook, Sasha interviews Michael Levin, co-founder of Ideon, an infrastructure platform powering digital experiences in health insurance and employee benefits.

Michael founded Ideon after serving as Chief Operating Officer of Affiliates Risk Management Systems (ARMS), where he noticed a need for digital infrastructure that would enable health insurance carriers and employee benefits providers to seamlessly connect with technology partners to drive better member experiences. At ARMS, Michael recruited a new leadership team, transformed and upgraded financial operations and audit systems, and led business plan development.

Prior to ARMS, Michael founded Media Sciences, which created a new market category and contributed to many firsts in the printer supply market. In total, Michael has over 20 years of experience driving innovation in several different industries.

In his conversation with Sasha, Michael explains his perspective on infrastructure in the benefits space, the importance of decision support tools, and how the industry should think about improving the member experience.

“There’s so many areas of the member journey that could be improved, from enrollment all the way through. The good news is there’s a lot of really great companies led by really great founders who are passionate about solving these problems and they will be solved.”

– Michael Levin

Here are some more highlights from their discussion:
