As many of you may know, Collective Health recently opened its doors at our newest office in Lehi, Utah. Today, we’re excited to introduce the person leading our Lehi-based operations team — Jennifer Jacobs, Vice President of Operations. Throughout her impressive career, Jennifer has led operations efforts at companies including eBay and GE. We sat down with Jennifer to learn more about her experiences and what led her to join our team.

Q&A

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Texas. I moved to Utah as a teenager, and I’ve lived here ever since. That said, I still consider South Texas to be home and get back there as often as I can! I currently live in South Jordan, Utah, with my husband Bruce, my two sons and a daughter, and my goldendoodle Ollie.

What happened in your career that led you to Collective Health?

I spent my career in finance, analytics, and operations at GE (Capital & Healthcare) for 10 years, then worked at eBay for 13 years. I’m very mission-driven — I love working for companies looking to make a positive difference in the world. That purpose-driven approach is what drew me to Collective Health. It’s an opportunity to make a difference in healthcare and finance in a way that’s never been done. I’m excited to take what I’ve learned throughout my career to help build something great.

What excites you most about where Collective Health is going?

Bringing transparency into healthcare in a way that will cost less and get better results…all while delivering an amazing experience to both companies and members. We are so far away from that today and it’s so needed and wanted.

What’s one of the most important lessons you’ve learned in your career?

Always hire people smarter than you. Building a talented, diverse, high-performing team will deliver amazing results!

What’s your favorite thing to do?

I love to travel with family and friends. We recently went to Great Basin and Bryce Canyon National Parks, which were both beautiful in the winter. I also love country music and, whenever possible, try to combine the two.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and how does that inform what you do today?

I always loved math! It led me to always look for data and analytics to help inform decisions.

What’s your favorite quote?

“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.” Martin Luther King Jr.
