Mar. 24, 2020, San Francisco, CA—Collective Health today introduced its COVID-19 Risk Assessment feature for anyone concerned about coronavirus exposure or looking for guidance. This new feature is a part of the Collective Health COVID-19 Resource, and a number of other measures the company has implemented for the health and safety of the Collective Health community and in an effort to help reduce the increasing burden on American hospital systems.
With in-house medical experts and insights into how nearly a quarter of a million Americans are reacting to COVID-19, Collective Health can quickly and proactively help people stay healthy, safe, and informed.
“Keeping our customers, colleagues, and communities as well-informed as possible is our priority,” said Ali Diab, Collective Health’s CEO and co-founder. “Our COVID-19 Risk Assessment is just one of the many ways we’ve activated our in-house medical experts, unique technology infrastructure, and broad network of partnerships to break through the clutter and reduce the confusion people are experiencing in trying to figure out what to do when it comes to their own health.”
The COVID-19 Risk Assessment Overview
The COVID-19 Risk Assessment was developed by in-house medical experts and with direct insight into the questions and concerns top-of-mind for people right now. Collective Health Member Advocates, those on the frontlines responding to members, spend multiple hours a day on COVID-19 related inquiries. Of these inquiries:
- The vast majority focus on risk and whether or not to seek testing.
- Many are directed to Collective Care, our clinical support team, because members have had symptoms or they’ve had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis.
“Emergency rooms are overloaded and are not the first place people should go, especially because they may be putting themselves at unnecessary risk for exposure to COVID-19,” said Dr. Sanjay Basu, M.D., Ph.D. and Collective Health’s director of research and population health. “The best first step is to have the right information at your fingertips. Knowing what other potential means you have for getting guidance, evaluated, or tested, should help keep you and others safe.”
How it Works
Collective Health’s COVID-19 Risk Assessment is a 60-second interactive questionnaire available for anyone who might just be curious, is looking for trusted resources, or needs help understanding what steps to take related to potential COVID-19 symptoms or exposure.
After answering some baseline questions about personal health and history, people receive quick, clear, and simple guidance, as well as links to trusted resources for more information. Collective Health’s COVID-19 Risk Assessment helps translate complex guidelines into a brief, understandable, and actionable checklist.
With information about symptoms, testing, and treatment rapidly changing, Collective Health’s COVID-19 Risk Assessment tool incorporates the latest information available through peer-reviewed academic journal articles and agreed-upon guidelines from respected medical authorities, so people can receive up-to-date and accurate information.
NOTE: The tool is not for diagnostic purposes and is not intended to substitute for personalized medical advice, but may be useful to help understand current CDC guidelines and local health department frameworks for testing.
